 USGS College Observatory, Fairbanks, Alaska

NORTECH completed a release investigation at the former USGS college observatory. NORTECH had prior experience with this building, having initially identified the release when removing the heating oil UST associated with the former Observatory building.

UAF Brooks Building Renovation, Fairbanks, Alaska

NORTECH prepared a tank closure specification, and then coordinated with a closure contractor who completed the removal and a release investigation for the kerosene tank at this UAF Mining building, along with 8 cubic yards of impacted soils.

Fairbanks U-Drive UST Closures, Fairbanks, Alaska

NORTECH arranged to handle this straightforward heating fuel UST closure project for Dames & Moore, as well as the removal of approximately 10 CY of fuel-contaminated soils. The property owner was in the process of arranging to sell her lot to the Fairbanks International Airport, and had to complete the process and gain a clean site, with No-Further-Action status from the ADEC, which we enabled her to do.

Underground Storage Tank Oversight

NORTECH has assessed and closed a number of fuel storage tanks, some of which are merely heating fuel tanks, with limited environmental data to gather and document, while USTs – as defined in federal and state regulations – are more complicated and expensive. In either case, the details have become relatively standard and “typical” over the last ten to twelve years of practice.
