North Slope Borough Thermal
The North Slope Borough (NSB) encompasses an area of approximately 94,000 square miles in northern Alaska, north of the Arctic Circle. It extends 650 miles east from Point Hope on the Chukchi Sea to the Canadian Border, and 225 miles south from Point Barrow, the most northern point in the State. The NSB includes the villages of Anaktuvuk Pass, Atquasuk, Barrow, Kaktovik, Nuiqsut, Point Hope, Point Lay and Waighwright.
The NSB operates a thermal oxidation solid waste system (TOS) in Barrow Alaska. Services provided and ongoing include job hazard assessments, development of a project specific work health and safety plan, worker training, design of retrieval system and work task exposure assessment. TOS health and safety program update and on-site exposure assessment during restart following year long out of operation period involving a major renovation and refractory replacement. Scope of work includes program update recommendations, job hazard assessment (JHA), worker exposure monitoring, as well as facility management and worker training.
