Risk Assessments/Risk Management
Remediation of contaminated sites is often driven by regulatory requirements, such as
CERCLA and RCRA. An important step in determining appropriate remedial actions for a site is the performance of a human health and ecological risk assessment (RA). The objective of a RA is to assess the magnitude and probability of actual or potential harm to public health and the environment resulting from the release of hazardous substances from a site in the absence of remedial action
NORTECH is extremely familiar with the Alaska’s risk based corrective action standards and the formal Superfund risk assessment process, and has successfully applied the emerging risk based corrective action models and criteria at a number of contaminated sites.
Key personnel include a Certified Industrial Hygienist with environmental toxicity and risk assessment training. Our team is trained and experienced with the
SESOIL, a soil and groundwater modeling program for Risk Assessment and soil Clean-Up level evaluation utilized by the
ADEC to develop the State’s generic, Site Specific and Risk Assessment based standards for the Contaminated Sites Cleanup Regulations.
Our risk assessment/management program includes:
Identification and evaluation of environmental risk causing factors at your location
Design of an ongoing environmental risk reduction program
Integration of risk avoidance into all levels of management
Corrective action programs
Management assessments
Regulatory awareness and training
Risk and liability assessment
Treatment, storage, and disposal audits
Waste minimization
