Beaver Former BIA School
Preliminary Environmental Assessment in Beaver, Alaska.
NORTECH partnered with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to evaluate environmental and structural concerns at the former BIA School in Beaver. Once the center of community activity, the school and its support buildings had fallen into disrepair, with abandoned fuel tanks, aging infrastructure, and potential hazardous materials requiring assessment.
Our team conducted site research, reconnaissance, and environmental sampling to identify petroleum impacts, asbestos, lead-based paint, and other hazardous materials such as PCB ballasts and mercury switches. In addition, NORTECH developed plans for tank demolition, building abatement, and soil remediation, supported by detailed cost estimates and technical reports.
Through a combination of hazardous materials investigation, remediation planning, and demolition design, NORTECH delivered a clear roadmap for the Fish and Wildlife Service and the community of Beaver to move the site toward safe cleanup and reuse.
