Juneau International Airport

The City and Borough of Juneau retained NORTECH to oversee the replacement of a heating oil tank at the Juneau International Airport’s Airfield Maintenance Facility. Our role included engineering design, work planning, and construction administration to ensure the project was carried out safely and in compliance with environmental regulations.

Before the underground storage tank was decommissioned, NORTECH performed a site assessment to evaluate potential soil impacts. Our field professionals oversaw excavation, collected confirmatory soil samples, and coordinated proper disposal of both the tank and contaminated soils at an approved facility. The outdated underground tank was successfully replaced with a new aboveground storage tank, providing the airport with a safer and more reliable system.
