Kake Elementary School
Brownfields Cleanup & Redevelopment Support in Kake, Alaska.
NORTECH partnered with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation and the City of Kake to address environmental concerns associated with the demolition and disposal of the former Kake Elementary School. With support from an EPA cleanup grant and the DEC’s Brownfield Assessment and Cleanup Program, our team evaluated project needs, identified key data gaps, and developed updated cost estimates to guide safe and effective remediation.
In addition to providing technical analysis, NORTECH assessed funding opportunities available to Alaska Brownfield projects to help the community plan for long-term success. Our findings were incorporated directly into the City’s bid package for the building demolition, ensuring that contractors had accurate information to support cleanup planning and execution.
This project demonstrates NORTECH’s ability to work collaboratively with local communities and agencies, provide cost-saving solutions, and deliver practical guidance that moves complex projects toward safe and efficient completion.
