Last Chance Basin
Tank Closure & Environmental Assessment in Juneau, Alaska.
NORTECH supported the City and Borough of Juneau with the closure of a regulated underground fuel storage tank at the Last Chance Basin Water Treatment Building. Our team conducted field screening and soil sampling throughout the excavation process to ensure environmental compliance and protect sensitive site infrastructure.
In addition to tank closure oversight, NORTECH advanced a detailed site investigation that included installation and sampling of soil borings and groundwater monitoring wells. Following analysis, the wells were decommissioned in coordination with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation.
This project highlights NORTECH’s ability to balance regulatory requirements, technical challenges, and site-specific constraints to safely manage petroleum-contaminated sites and protect critical community infrastructure.
