John Carnahan
Environmental Scientist
John has more than 30 years of experience working in the environmental field. He has managed all aspects of environmental assessments from Phase I Environmental Site Assessments to full-scale remediation actions throughout Alaska. Additionally, he determined regulatory compliance for the assessment and cleanup of complex Navy and Air Force Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability (CERCLA) military sites.

John also facilitated the continuing assessment strategy of abandoned drilling operations for Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) lands across northern Alaska. John has conducted extensive outreach to Alaska Tribes and Villages, providing direct one-on-one assistance addressing priority environmental issues. He assisted with grant writing, Tribal Response Program management and planning, determining program objectives and project goals, and provided training designed to empower tribes. John has helped identify, scope, and procure funding for both large and small brownfield projects and assessments.
